Alonzo Gee Returns To The Washington Wizards: Wait, Who?

Do you remember Alonzo Gee? Of course you don't. Unless you're the kind of Washington Wizards fan that followed every up and down of a traumatic 2009/10 season, you don't remember anything about Alonzo Gee. Since I am that kind of Washington Wizards fan, you're going to have to hear more about this story. Sorry guys.

Anyway, last season, the Wizards brought Gee up from the NBA Developmental League after trades and injury robbed the team of all its depth. Gee responded by showing a lot of promise in his short stint with the team, and coach Flip Saunders seemed to indicate that the team would sign him for the rest of the season. But when it came time to actually make that decision, the Wizards somehow let Gee slip away. Gee ended up signing with the San Antonio Spurs because he was given a little more guaranteed money.

At the time, I was very mad. Truth be told, I'm still a bit miffed, though not like that. But as often happens in life, things have come full circle. The Spurs released Gee earlier this month, and now, the Wizards have picked him up on a non-guaranteed contract, according to Michael Lee of the Washington Post. Funny how things work out sometimes.

Welcome back, Alonzo. I've missed rooting for you.
