John Wall Is On The Cover Of The Newest SLAM Magazine

If you love collectible magazine covers of your favorite D.C. sports athletes, then you're going to want to reserve a spot on your "Wall" for this one. (Get it? Wall, like the player, and Wall, like the place you hang things on? Isn't that brilliant? Okay, don't all say "yes" at once). The latest SLAM Online cover was just released, and it features none other than Wizards rookie sensation John Wall.

Here it is:

Before you freak out about the Allen Iverson comparison, remember that we're talking about Iverson in his prime, when he was a speedy demon. Also, allow Lang Whitaker, editor of SLAM Online, to explain the comparison.

A few days later I asked my main man Michael Lee at the Washington Post, and he agreed. It wasn't just me-Wall sounds a little bit like Allen Iverson.

It's not just the voice, or the fearlessness or the creativity, or John becoming the new face of Reebok. More than anything, Wall reminds me of AI because of his speed. I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone as fast with the ball as John Wall.

I can agree with that. Let's just hope Wall combines all of Iverson's good qualities with none of his bad ones. The issue, with Whitaker's cover story on Wall, will be on newsstands later this week.
