Gilbert Arenas Says He Thought About Retiring 'For A Minute'

As you probably guessed, one of media's job is to psychoanalyze every single word -- every single syllable, even -- that comes out of Gilbert Arenas' mouth. It's a part of our contracts. So with that in mind, I present to you this quote from Arenas after his season debut last night against the Knicks.

↵↵"I thought about retiring for a minute, because I really didn't know what to expect," Arenas said. "I just thought it was too much negativity for me to come back in. I just didn't know if I was mentally prepared for it again."

OMG GILBERT ARENAS SAID HE THOUGHT ABOUT RETIRING?? CLEARLY, HE'S LOST HIS PASSION AND RESPECT FOR THE GAME. HE'S OBVIOUSLY A QUITTER WITH NO REMORSE, SINCE HE WAS GOING TO RUN FROM ALL HIS PROBLEMS. THIS JUST SHOWS HOW MUCH OF A CANCER HE IS! ALL. ABOUT. HIM.

Oh, sorry, Tony Kornheiser stole my keyboard. In all seriousness, go read the whole thing. Arenas is reflective, gracious and insightful, which is what he was back in the day when everything was going well. He said that "eventually," his personality would return, but if yesterday's quotes are any indication, it has already. D.C. needs this Gilbert Arenas back, both on and off the court.
