Kirk Hinrich will miss tonight's game for the Washington Wizards as the Boston Celtics come to Verizon Center. Hinrich will be sitting out due to the elbow injury that he suffered last night in the fourth quarter of the Wizards' game against the Phoenix Suns.
According to the Associated Press, the team is calling the injury a right elbow sprain. Coach Flip Saunders doesn't appear to be concerned about the elbow being broken, but told the AP that the team will wait for the swelling to go down before ordering an MRI.
"We're more concerned about ligaments in the elbow," Saunders said, "because of how it was hyperextended."
To fill in for the injured veteran, the Wizards have added Mustafa Shakur to the active roster, signing the D-League point guard to a 10-day contract. According to Craig Stouffer of the Washington Examiner, Shakur has been a member of four different NBA teams before, but has yet to see a single minute of action on the floor in an NBA game. That is very likely to change tonight as the Wizards will need some help with Hinrich out of the lineup.
