NBA Rumors: New York Knicks To 'Zero In' On Maurice Evans, According To Report

The New York Knicks will soon 'zero in' on Washington Wizards free-agent swingman Maurice Evans, reports Alex Kennedy of HOOPSWORLD, offering the $2.5 million "cap room" exception. Evans, 33, appeared in 26 games--and started the team's final 10 games--for Washington in the 2010/11 season after arriving via trade with the Atlanta Hawks.

The Texas product averaged 9.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game as a Wizard, shooting 43.9 percent from the field.

There's still a chance Evans could return to Washington, however. Last Friday, Michael Lee reported the Wizards are in "daily conversations" with Roger Montgomery, Evans' agent, to negotiate Evans' return. According to Lee, the Wizards like his "aggressive style of play" and "steadying presence."

In his eight-year, seven-team career, Evans has averaged 6.7 points and 2.5 rebounds on 44.4 percent shooting from the field and a respectable 36.3 percent from three-point range.
