Considering the NBA lockout may never end the growth of organized pickup games continues to amp up. The big names are heading to D.C. today for a game at Coolidge High School at 3 p.m. DeMarcus Cousins, John Wall and Kevin Durant are some of many scheduled to appear in the game, which is live streaming here. Michael Lee of the Washington Post has owned this story, here is an update from the Wizards Insider blog:
Organizer Hanif Hill said on Friday that he has also received commitments from [Jarrett] Jack, Jeff Green, Michael Beasley, Greg Monroe, James Harden, Kemba Walker, Gary Neal, Corey Brewer, Samardo Samuels and Ater Majok. Eric Maynor planned to play but was a last-minute scratch after developing a groin injury. Hill said Andray Blatche may also play, though Blatche said on Tuesday that it would depend on how well his shoulder felt.
I'm not sure the Washington Wizards need Blatche out there -- we wouldn't want to interrupt his strip-club promoting schedule or sparsely attended players only workouts. Wall, on the other hand, is fire on the court, and it is great for D.C. that he continues to show the local pickup scene love.
Going to the game will cost $30, but if you want to watch from your couch you can do so here. it will cost you 99 cents but considering the talent level, that is a dollar well splent.
