Celtics Vs. Wizards: John Wall, JaVale McGee Look To Lead Washington To Victory Over Boston

The Washington Wizards (2-13) will be looking for their third win of the year when they welcome the Boston Celtics (5-9) to the Verizon Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Washington Wizards (2-13) will be looking for their third win of the year when they welcome the Boston Celtics (5-9) to the Verizon Center on Sunday afternoon. The Celtics are hoping to go 3-0 against the Wizards to start the truncated 2011-12 NBA season. Boston scored two eight-point wins in a January 1 (94-86) and Jan 2 (100-92) home-and-home series with Washington to begin 2012. Rajon Rondo averaged 13.5 assists in those two contests.

Despite the record, Washington has begun to play better of late. The Wizards upset the Oklahoma City Thunder 105-102 on Wednesday, and narrowly fell to the Denver Nuggets 108-104 Friday night. After failing to score 100 points in their first 12 games, Washington has averaged 105 points in their last three contests.

John Wall and JaVale McGee have had success in the first two matchups against Boston. McGee has averaged 16.5 points and 14 rebounds in the first two games, while Wall has scored 15 points and dished out 8 assists per game against the Celtics this year.
