Wizards vs. Hawks: Nene could return as Washington tries to avoid 0-10 start

The Wizards head to Atlanta still searching for their first 2012-13 win, and they could get a boost in the frontcourt with the potential return of Nene.

Brad Mills-US PRESSWIRE

Still winless in their first month of the season, the Washington Wizards head to Atlanta for a pre-Thanksgiving game against the Hawks. Playing without John Wall and Nene, Randy Wittman's club is off to an 0-9 start in November. The Wizards could be getting a boost on Wednesday night, however, as it's possible that Nene returns. The veteran center went through a full two-hour workout on Tuesday and did participate in Washington's morning shootaround on Wednesday, according to Chris Miller of CSN. He's been held out so far this season with recurring plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

While the Wizards may be getting Nene back in the frontcourt, they could be without power forward Trevor Booker, who sprained his knee on Monday night in the loss to the Pacers. Booker had an MRI on Tuesday, and did not participate in the morning walk through on Wednesday.

Washington will need as many available bodies as possible if they want to get their first win of the season in Atlanta. The strength of this Hawks team lies in their frontcourt, with the duo of Al Horford and Josh Smith and their productivity in the paint and on the glass. Tip from the Philips Center is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET, and CSN will have the broadcast.
