The Washington Wizards just can't catch a break.
For a while, it looked like they had won their first game of the year -- an overtime thriller over the Atlanta Hawks. But when the officials reviewed Martell Webster's last-second put-back, it was waved off and the Hawks escaped with a 101-100 win at home.
The two teams were close throughout and Devin Harris made two free throws in the final seconds of regulation to force the extra session.
Harris finished with 13 points, while Josh Smith led the Hawks with 25.
The Wizards got most of their production from their bench, apart from Kevin Seraphin's 21 points. Subs Trevor Ariza, Nene, Webster and A.J. Price all scored in double figures.
For the game, Washington dominated the glass, owning a 58-37 advantage. The Hawks, however, dished out an impressive 30 assists compared to just 13 turnovers. Center Al Horford had 10 of those assists as he just missed a triple-double. He also finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.
With the loss, the Wizards are now 0-10 and hope to finally get into the win column on Saturday when they host the Charlotte Bobcats.
