After one half at US Airways Center in Phoenix, the Washington Wizards trail the Suns 53-48. The ageless Steve Nash had yet another dynamic performance against the Wizards' pick-and-roll defense, dishing eight assists in the first 24 minutes. Nash led a run with the Suns starters to finish off the half with the five-point lead. A big beneficiary of the Nash pick-and-roll was Marcin Gortat, who led all scorers with 13.
Jordan Crawford led the Wizards with 11 points off the bench. Crawford is never shy to put the ball up and he hit four of five attempts in the first half to give Randy Wittman a nice boost. John Wall, who's having a nice month on the offensive end, has had a solid all-around game so far against Nash, scoring ten points, grabbing six rebounds, and dishing four assists. Javale McGee matched Wall with ten points on the interior, but went to the bench late shaken up. As a team, the Wizards shot 48 percent from the floor but closed out the second quarter hitting just four of 11 from the field after starting hot to cut Phoenix's lead to just one. Wall will look to keep the pressure on Nash on the defensive end as the Wizards try to pull out a win in the only meeting between these two teams this season.
