This comes to us from our brethren over at Bullets Forever.
The Wizards have two home games remaining before the end of the season, and unfortunately, they don't exactly promise a big crowd. Washington plays Charlotte Monday night before hosting a Miami team that will surely be resting LeBron James and Dwyane Wade in anticipation of a deep playoff run.
So, what do you do to bring the crowds in? You host an a cappella competition, of course.
From the promotions department:
Join us for an A Cappella Competition at a Wizards game and compete to perform the National Anthem in front of thousands of NBA fans at a future Wizards game.
This bad boy was open to "all high school groups of any arrangement, style or size," and begins in, oh, about 20 minutes. Judges award scores, fans vote on the two highest-scoring groups, winners get to sing the National Anthem at the season finale against the Heat.
We're not going to snark on the high school kids, because obviously. (And, for the record, if we could sing, we would likely have done something like this and loved it.)
But we're just going to point out those registration fees ($35 for a "Club Package") and then direct you to ticket prices for tonight's game on Stubhub.
