The Washington Wizards can end the season on a six-game winning streak if they can defeat a Miami Heat team that will most likely rest their stars on Thursday night. The Heat are locked into the No. 2 overall seed in the Eastern Conference behind the Chicago Bulls and have nothing to play for.
The Wizards are on their longest winning streak since reeling off six in a row in November 2007. John Wall has recorded four straight double-doubles during this winning streak after only recording four in the previous 24 games. The Wizards will be happy that he ends the season on a strong note going into the offseason on this strong play.
For those concerned that this winning streak will hurt the Wizards' standing in the NBA Draft Lottery, the Charlotte Bobcats have the worst record in the NBA at 7-58 currently, the Wizards have the second worst at 19-46 and the Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Hornets are all tied for the third worst record at 21-44. The Wizards will get the second-most amount of ping-pong balls and will draft no lower than the No. 5 overall pick in the NBA draft.
The game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. tip off from the Verizon Center. Television coverage will be provided by Comcast Sports Network, with radio coverage provided by 106.7 The Fan.
