With the NBA Draft coming soon, the focus for a team like the Washington Wizards is on who they can take from the college ranks of basketball that can help the Wizards entering the next season. SB Nation's NBA Editor Tom Ziller has published his latest mock draft. In there he has predicted that the Washington Wizards will select Kansas Jayhawks guard Thomas Robinson with the No. 2 overall draft pick.
2. WIZARDS: Thomas Robinson, Kansas
A franchise that so believed in its ability to morph men it gave Gilbert Arenas a near-max after an ACL tear, extended Andray Blatche before he hit the market and hung with JaVale McGee for more than three years has changed so much that there's no chance it touches Andre Drummond with a fishing pole. Robinson's heart and work ethic will make some GM overlook his size and potential to be great in any one area.
Thomas Robinson helped get the Jayhawks all the way to the National Championship Game back in March. He measures in at 6'10" and 237 pounds. This past season, he scored 17.9 points and 11.8 rebounds per game, which included 18 points and 17 rebounds in the Championship Game against Kentucky.
A player like Robinson could be the inside player that the Wizards have been looking for for years. His aggresiveness on defense as well as his work ethic is something the Wizards could desperately need to wash the bad memories of JaVale McGee and Andray Blatche out of their system.
