The marriage between the Washington Wizards and Florida guard Bradley Beal has been well-established by 2012 NBA mock drafts and a variety of analysts around the league. An interloper, the Cleveland Cavaliers, may breakup that relationship, before the Wizards can select Beal with the third pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, according to a recent report.
Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer says that the Cavs could swing a deal to nab the Charlotte Bobcats' second pick in the draft, a move designed to bring Beal to Cleveland.
After calling some sources with lottery picks Saturday, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Charlotte Bobcats and Cleveland Cavaliers swap draft picks in Thursday's draft. In that sort of a deal, the Bobcats would pick fourth and 24th and the Cavs would move up to No. 2.
Bonnell says that the Cavs have a preference for Beal, and do not believe that he will make it past Washington. A player like Beal that can score from the outside would be a natural complement to rookie of the year Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson.
The 2012 NBA Draft will kick off at 7:00 p.m. EST on June 28 from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
