NBA Draft Results 2012: Virginia's Mike Scott Selected By Hawks With No. 43 Pick

Local Virginia standout Mike Scott heard his name called in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft, going No. 43 overall to the Atlanta Hawks. Scott had an incredibly productive season as a fifth-year senior in Charlottesville and has the size to bang on the block at the NBA level. He was expected to go in the middle of the second round and the Hawks, the oldest team in the league, ended up calling his name.

Scott will join another college veteran in Vanderbilt's John Jenkins, who the Hawks took with their first round pick at No. 23. As a second round pick, Scott will not receive a guaranteed contract from Atlanta but he definitely has a chance to be a contributor along the front line. He will almost certainly be a part of the Hawks' summer league squad, where he'll make his debut.
