The Washington Wizards have amnestied power forward/center Andray Blatche, according to a report from CSN Wizards beat reporter Chris Miller.
"It's 'official," Miller tweeted Tuesday afternoon, "the Wizards have amnestied Andray Blatche per a source."
The tweet comes on the heels of Monday's report from the Washington Post's Michael Lee, which, citing sources, said the Wizards were "inclined to designate Andray Blatche as their amnesty player." Tuesday remains the deadline for teams to amnesty a player. Using the amnesty clause on Blatche would reportedly shave roughly $23 million off the team's payroll over the course of the next three seasons.
Last season, Blatche, a 6-foot-11, 260-pound big man, averaged 8.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, as Washington finished 20-46 in the lockout-shortened regular season. Blatche has played for the Wizards over his entire seven-year career since being drafted by the team in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft.
