Jerry Sichting became an assistant coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1995 and remained a coach in the NBA until after the 2010-11 season, but spent the 2011-12 season coaching high school basketball. However, Sichting could be making his return to the NBA as an assistant for the Washington Wizards according to Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune.
Randy Wittman spent much of the early years of his coaching career with the Timberwolves and worked with Sichting there, making the hiring a potential reuniting of sorts. Wittman served as an assistant coach on the bench for the Timberwolves from 1994-1999 and was joined on the bench in 1995 by Sichting who served as an assistant coach until 2005.
However, by the time Wittman returned to become head coach of the Timberwolves in 2007, Sichting had already left to serve as an assistant coach at Marquette University.
Sichting had a 10-season career in the NBA, playing five of those seasons with the Indiana Pacers and three with the Boston Celtics.
